What is an Alternate Author Name?

An alternate author name is a name that is added to your primary account. You do this when you want to branch out of your areas of expertise and brand each name to a specific niche or industry.

For example, Brandon McGregor is an expert in three subjects: Parenting, Health and Fitness, and Sports. Within each niche, he can brand using alternate author names (pen names).

Brandon Mac writes articles about Parenting.
B. McGregor writes about Health and Fitness.
Brandon McGregor writes about Sports.

How Do I Add an Alternate Author Name to my Membership Account?

  1. Log into your BioGeny.com Expert Author Account.

  2. Select your current author name on the blue toolbar at the top right of your homepage.

  3. Select "Add a new profile" from the dropdown menu.

  4. Type your desired name into the "Author Name" field. This field will turn red if the name is already in use, and green if the name is available to use.

  5. Select "Create."

You will immediately be taken to the profile for your new author name, where you can complete your author bio information.

My Name is Spelled Incorrectly. How Do I Fix This?

  1. Log into your BioGeny.com Expert Author Account.

  2. Select your current author name on the blue toolbar at the top right of your homepage.

  3. Select the name that is misspelled from the dropdown menu.

  4. Select the Profile tab, and then select the "Author Name" field

  5. Update the author name to the correct spelling.

  6. Read the Alternate Author Name Guidelines. If you agree, select the "I agree to the Alternate Author Name Guidelines" check box.

  7. Select the Submit button.

Your revised author name will be reviewed by our Member Support Team within one business day.

I Want to Submit Articles for my Boss/Client/Partner. How Should I Do That?

Assuming you have the permission of this person, the best way to do this is to create an Alternate Author name in your account for the person you are submitting on behalf of. To do this:

  1. Log into your BioGeny.com Expert Author Account.

  2. Select your author name on the blue toolbar at the top right of your homepage.

  3. Select "Add a new profile"

  4. Type your desired name into the "Author Name" field. This field will turn red if the name is already in use, and green if the name is available to use.

  5. Select "Create."

Once you have created an Alternate Author, you will have the option to use it the next time you submit an article.

I No Longer Want to Use One of my Alternate Author Names. How Do I Remove It?

You are able to remove Alternate Author names on your account, however, removing a name will also remove any submitted or live articles under that name. These articles cannot be reassigned to another name, and cannot be resubmitted. Knowing this, to remove an Alternate Author name:

  1. Log into your BioGeny.com Expert Author Account.

  2. Select your author name on the blue toolbar at the top right of your homepage.

  3. Select the Alternate Author name you'd like to remove from the dropdown menu.

  4. Select the Profile tab.

  5. In the bottom right corner of the profile, select Delete Author

  6. To confirm, type the name of the author you are deleting into the provided field

  7. Select Delete.

I Want to Switch the Primary Author on my Account. Can I Do This?

You are able to remove Alternate Author names on your account, however, removing a name will also remove any submitted or live articles under that name. These articles cannot be reassigned to another name, and cannot be resubmitted. Knowing this, to remove an Alternate Author name:

  1. Log into your BioGeny.com Expert Author Account.

  2. Select "Contact Us!" on the left side of the blue toolbar at the top of your home page.

  3. Fill in the message form with your request, and select "Send Message."
